Just starting off with a link to last years thread here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/201672/dazzling-damsels-and-dragons-2019#pifragment-4285=1
About a week ago the large Red Damsels arrived
& then yesterday caught a glimpse of a Broad Bodied Chaser
it then flew off across a field.
Happy hunting & stay safe all.
Unknown said:Nice to see they're emerging, Hazel. My local patch is out of bounds unless you can walk there. Don't think I'm going to see much this year.
We're lucky to have a pond & "laverie" in our 1 km limit. The laverie is the muckiest water you can imagine & the women must have got terrible back-ache doing the washing there, the water is a lot lower than the level ground. I think the sheets must have come out a bit grey too. Nice for damsels though.
Don't despair TJ, it'll all come good in the end, patience is what we all need, & I don't have much of it. Just stay healthy!
Nice photos folks, I don't often get many damsels, or dragons in the garden, but the new thread is noted, and hopefully, I'll not mess up why I post my sightings!
One can try.....
First Damsels of the year for me on our walk this morning. :-)
Emerging Large Reds.
Female (typica) .... I think.!!
I spent a little time by our pond today contemplating how much of a mess it is and where to start working to clean it up when I noticed some damselfly about. So up the garden and collect the camera and ID'd them as Large Red Damselfly.
Brilliant captures Tony.
