Made My Day Again & My Wife's

After the Thrush visit to our pond on Wed we then went out to Lackford Lakes for a walk to see what was about in the reserve. We had planned not to go into any hides if they were already occupied.

Walking past the sailing lake there was this Greylag still in winter camouflage, looking somewhat haughty

Followed by a Robin looking expectantly for food..

The first hide was empty so we entered to find

A Heron looking slightly grumpy

The usual Tufftie

The Heron perked up

Then a BH Gull decided to race a Cormorant

Grumpy decided to have a smarten up

Suddenly a deafening sound just outside the hide announced the arrival of

As I was focused on the Wren Mrs T who was also photoing it spotted another bird and captured this one on her pocket Panasonic, who needs to spend silly money on big camera's and lens's. The best view we've ever had of a Cetti Warbler and the clearest pic of one I've seen in along time. No, No I'm not jealous at all......Frowning2

It was sat next to the wren for about 2/3 mins before I could pick it up and then disappeared.

A BH Gull then decided to annoy the Heron... hooligan

I/we moved on after that to the next empty hide.

The usual Snipe hunkered down

Another Snipe looking for nibbles

The 4 amigos with a headless friend

A blue flash and you know who arrived on its perch for a couple of minutes.

Time to move on as other people appeared so we went onto then woodland

A smart looking Dunnock

We were also able to listen to and watch Chiffchaff around the reserve but no pics so a good reason to go back next week, as long as there are not too many people about.
