A grasshopper enjoying the sunshine for a little while this afternoon
Lovely clear photos Sandra.
I've not seen grasshoppers either this year, but then we don't get any in the garden, and I've not been able to get anywhere where I would see any....

The clover on the grass was getting lots of visits from white tailed bumble bees
Picked up a camera box from the floor today & had a Brown Lacewing jump on to my hand, usually only get green ones here!
It was extremely reluctant to fly away so I took it for a walk down the garden & introduced it to stems full of blackfly, hopped on those OK!
Not seen too many Ladybirds this year but came across this one as I put the Lacewing out
It was being severely harassed by an ant
My first post on here (I think, unless I posted yonks ago) - I have seen eggs laid on long plant stems and leaves in my garden before but can't find an exact match. This time I caught the eggs in the act of hatching, and unlike the ones I found on ivy and got extremely excited about, they are hatching into first instar caterpillars, not shield bugs! I have a feeling they are noctuid eggs of a root-feeding species because I haven't yet seen any larger caterpillars eating the host plant. When I took the pics, the little hatchlings were off at a rate of knots and didn't seem interested in eating the leaf. I can't seem to find a way to post the pics, can anyone help?
When replying click on rich formatting to bring up insert option, keep your pics around 2mb for posting on here, you can change the parameters shown to 550 for first box then delete numbers in second box for a decent sized view on here! Videos have to be uploaded to Youtube to get URL to post here!
