Kestrels in the Quarry 2020 ...Colin's back on 23rd July

  • Answer on moth from Hazel in Gironde Estuary
***Hi Wendy, I love your easy questions!! LOL. In fact I'm tossing up between 2 in the family of Oecophoridae. Either Brown house moth (Hofmannophila pseudospretella) or Borkhausenia fuscescens. Either are feasible in a birds nest, although the 2nd more likely.***

  • Thanks everyone for pics and posts!

Scylla, You probably know that a Sparrow Hawk, a Goshawk and some Owls would happily take a Jackdaw (I've read that, amazingly, a Little Owl will take a Jay!)--needn't be an Eagle--lol!.

    Kind regards,

    Ann

Thank you for the moth research, WENDY - needless to say I shan't remember those names

GARDENBIRDER, thank you for putting me back in line - I was being a drama queen

Late afternoon/early evening there was rain and thunder - just for the record ;)
