And along with geese and butterflies (in other threads) saw a fair variety of birds
Mallard, displaying angels wing
Great White Shegret (sorry Hazel )
I can do the wing thing too, said the Heron
And meeeeeee squawked the gull
But we do it far better honked the swans
Saw 4 or 5 GW Egret, all be it distantly
Then an aglomoration of Lapwing, Cormorant, GWE and a wader... ***shank or *** Godwit maybe
More waders (*shrug...all look the same to me!! Niiiiiige...where are youuuuuu)
A little egret....duuuuude….where's my feeet
And finally, Walking on Water!
Brilliant photos PB, and I would guess a return visit could be on the cards....
Thanks Mike,
Yep, I think i'll deffo be back, i'll give it a couple or 3 weeks, and keep an eye on the sightings pages to see when there's lots of stuff to see, apparently is good for winter migrants.... gotta keep Nige out of mischief ID'ing them all (Or Hazel as she's thrown her tuppence in with these ones ... no pressure!!)
As the others have said, looks a good place. It's not often we see so many GWE's together up here.

Although I can do the common ones, I'm definitely no wader expert. However, to start, look at easy features: size and beak shape/length are good places. Big birds with long straight bills = Godwits, as Hazy says. You'll soon the hang of the common ones if you go there a few times.
I think this may have been the first time I've seen GWE, having been corrected a couple of times on here about my little egret misidentification! (Still think they were GWE despite black bill lol)
