  • Herons make for great photo captures and these are beautiful Bob, I love that long wingspan they have and the way they glide through the air and manage to land pretty daintily for such large birds !

  • Cracking shots Bob love the first ones with the wings out, you want to keep an eye on the water around you we have blue/green algae on my patch at the minute.

According to the reserve, that isn't algae, its a kind of weed and is acceptable to the committee that runs it. They are also having some problems with sluice gates and maintaining the correct water level. The Kingfishers don't like the weed though and there has rarely been anything there since the weed took over. - the Heron, a few Moorhen and a couple of Mallards. A bit sad really

  • Superb clear photos Bob, and such detail on the fish in the beak.

  • I know they are common birds but I still like Herons. Excellent photos, although how it could see a fish through the weed is beyond me.

There are little open areas - usually tracks created by the odd swimming Moorhen or Mallard.
