Though it was a dull and cloudy day at RSPB Middleton Lakes, and generally quiet, not just the wildlife but the regulars also!
But I did manage to capture some piccies.
A young nuthatch
A young robin, that made itself known to me as I tried to get a wine gum packet out of my pocket. Even funnier, when I did take a wine gum out, it flew down hoping to get a bite!
But, as I often do, I had proper bird food and the robin didn't waste any time....
A nosey and inquisitive mayfly came to see me at the open hide window
A wading redshank outside the hide.
Unknown said:I never knew Robins liked wine gums. I suspect it won't be long before they decide not to bother waiting and just start diving straight in peoples pockets looking for food!
Neither did I!
Seriously, I think it was more the rustle of a package which often means food, and these birds get used to hands having suitable food for them to eat, though I'm not sure wine gums are advisable.
