RSPB Middleton Lakes Sun 8 April 2019

Things have been a bit hectic around here, with PR jnr busy competing in National Kayaking events, and as parents, travelling the Midlands supporting him, so it was a relief to have a quiet Sunday at my local reserve.

Here are a few photos, though the light wasn't too brilliant, but it was time out.

Ok,, so the first pic isn't nature, it was a Joby 5K Kit Gorillapod which I treated myself to at the Photographic Show, and it had it's first outing, and it wrapped around my crutches nicely.

Now the wildlife, a cattle egret (the white spec amid the sheep) very much in the distance, looking through a hawthorn thicket, so it was manual focus time.

A mallard drake posed nicely on the canal bridge

Redshank

And finally, the great crested grebe has a mate, and they were all loved up. Sadly, it was towards the end of the day, they were beyond the limits of the lens, my leg was quite painful and the light was fast fading, so it isn't a brilliant photo.
