This is the carry on thread from "All about Insects 2018" here https://community.rspb.org.uk/wildlife/f/all-creatures/196071/all-about-insects-2018
I had a lovely Minotaur Beetle around the UV trap this morning, my first ever!
Apparantly this is their time of year!
All insects, spiders, beetles, flies etc etc welcome,
I noticed I wasn't the only busy bee working in the garden yesterday......……… check out those pollen sacks; think the plant is similar to snake's head fritillary (marginal pond plant)

was up early - me forgots all about the moon eclipse with all that happened yesterday and was too busy making myself a hot chocolate lol
A threesome to annoy my beloved.....
Scarlet Lily Beetles...… on her lilies!!
WAS a hoverfly is more accurate Alan. Great capture, looks a bit like me eating corn on the cob.
P.S. Or is it playing a mouth-organ.
The Lily I earned brownie points for saving from the Scarlet Lily Beetle
Note... I was deducted points for the damage to the leaves below the flower.... harsh judgement if you ask me lol
I seem to be have been spotting far more insects than birds for a while, now, and I suspect that will be my lot until September. Just as well I like photographing them, although whether I actually dare leave the birding lens at home until then is a tricky one! So here are a few more macro shots. I don't often see bright orange house flies.
They may not be the prettiest insects or have the most savoury habits but even dung-flies find love
