Pure chance of getting the two so clearly, definitely not intentional, I was photographing the banded when what might be a common blue flies in on the scene

If those Volucella hoverflies aren't bombing then they are being bombed
In fact, all hoverflies seem to like getting in on the act and even bomb each other. In this case, Eristalis Intricarius is being bombed by one of the drone flies
