Wandering around the south footpath of Manor farm, late Friday evening, I spotted a couple of birds fluttering down. It was a little gloomy and the birds a fair distance off. I did my usual strategy of photographing the birds for later identification at home.
The birds turned out to be pigeons. However, I took some further photos as I thought I spotted a flock of Pied wagtails that inhabit this site. Only the birds turned out to be a Goldfinch and Pied wagtail having a scrap.
Cropping out the fighters. The Goldfinch is engaged in some spectacular flying as it dive bombs the Pied Wagtail.
They clash!
Now they are strutting their stuff.
Perhaps hostilities have ceased
Combatants leave the stage

Not just pigeons. They are Stock Doves - a very attractive bird when you see them up close.

My eyesight and bird recognition skills are really going to be tested now. I looked up this pigeon and its relatives, and squinted a lot to work out the differences.
