lol Alan,  I love ginger nuts;  will try remember to bring you some in June  !      You'll have to run behind the mallards as I feed them and I'll chuck you some kibbled ginger nut !

I haven't been up to much, bird-wise, this week, but I did have a close encounter with this Great Spotted Woodpecker.

For someone who doesn't get them in the garden, it was nice to see this one low down and unobstructed by twigs :)

One of many Song Thrushes around at the moment, taking time off from singing to forage

Wonderful close up shots Nigel and good to see that the Song Thrush  numbers are making a come back - wonder if they can be taken off the red list now.   Might be seeing more birds in the garden this weekend with another cold snap from the east.

It's so good to see so many song thrushes that are on the red list, bodes well for the future and how brilliant to have one visit your garden Tony;   we had a pair last year that had two of their young visit the pond area.

Strange sort of day here;  one minute bright sunshine, blue sky, next blizzard with snow and changing every half hour or even in ten minutes!

    Photos from window again ......

these were on the iPhone to show you the difference in weather during 10 minutes

on occasion one side of the garden was without snowfall and the other was clear !

    snow on the patio table

one of the Jays looked as puzzled about the weather as we were  !!

then there was a dispute with another Jay and a Jackdaw about occupying rights to the new bird table    lol

clear orrffff  said the Jay,   I was here first    !

another attempt by the Jackdaw ..............    (sorry all pics taken at distance through window)

the seed went flying much to the delight of the ground feeders !

    Was fun to watch   lol

meanwhile, the stock-dove pair were occupying the sun-heart feeder

they are lovely birds with that iridescent patch on their neck

the pair of Bullfinches were biding their time to get the feeder back ....

whilst the Blue Tits were looking on in surprise at a female Siskin that wanted to join in the communal bathing session !

someone else was having their "last supper"    pinching a piece of cheese put out for the Corvids

    No# 57 Cyril

I treated the Jay to some live mealworms and peanuts ........

Still changeable and blowing hard here;   the Mallards have flown in,  we have 5 Siskins, 4 Bullfinch, 3 Stock-doves, 2 or sometimes 3 Jays, dozens of corvids and about 20 wood pigeons !!       I am giving seed/nuts  to all during this cold spell, even the Cyrils.

A lovely selection Hazel, taken through the window! It just shows the difference in weather in only a small space of time and in different parts of the garden, mind you your garden looks so big that it will be a wee while before the weather reaches the other side!! The second photo is beautiful when viewed in full. My what a lot of trees you have! I am so glad that you are catering for even the Cyril's. Lol.

Forgot to say, love the new bird table.

Edit again, We have no snow! Makes a change!

Beauty is in the eye of the beholder.
