I said I'd have to start packing the macro ...and here's my first bee of the year. Must be a Tree Bumblebee, I think, with the red, black, white colour scheme.

Great shot Nigel, we have had a few bees off & on in the last few weeks but the last 2 days it has done nothing but rain!
Best wishes

Super capture Nige, lots of Beebumbles here but sadly great losses during cold evenings ... bring on the sugar water methinks ... good to see Lesser Celandine flowers increasing daily, early Bee food!

I actually saw a few today, but I reckon they might have regretted coming out as 5 minutes later it was raining!
Rather surprised to come across a hive slapped in the middle of a footpath near Hanley William (aka the middle of nowhere!).
It was conveniently next to some enthusiastic daffodils, hence the large yellow blobs. I didn't want to stay too close, hence hurried framing!
In reply to IanMSpencer:
Nice picture Nige, I am going to have a lot of Mason bees this year I have three full bee nest boxes so will have to keep an eye on them around may that's when they emerged last year and there were a lot then :)
Nice picture Ian.
Got this yesterday a Tree creeper pulled a bug out of the log.
A crop.
Super capture JB!
