Better late than never, I'm just starting this off with this little beetle that came in from the cold recently, I don't know what it is yet
I think it may have been injured when I scraped it off my neck!!
THIS is a link to old thread.
Amazing spectacle, must be mind-blowing to see such vast numbers when you think how excited we get over one or two on our plants!
I've just started off the New Year with a New Thread here ww2.rspb.org.uk/.../196071.aspx All about Insects 2018
It looks good enough to eat, Wendy, not bad for the birds either! Just had my Xmas dinner so not hungry anyway. Enjoy yours tomorrow.
It could have been laced with a good whisky even I could not have turned my nose up to that Wendy :)
seemed to be enjoying the suet fruit ! amazing how mild it is outside at the moment although I think we're getting zero degree overnight from Tuesday. Have a good Christmas Day Wendy :)
Having a reasonably mild spell here, albeit misty & damp but never expected to see this 12mm creature today ... wonder what sustenance it gained from bird suet ball?
There had to be a vid!! Lol
Thanks H, just watched a couple of clips from it on my tablet. ... See that it's on iplayer too shortly after the broadcast!
Programme about Butterflies on BBC 4 tonight at 00h15 to 01h15. Bit late for me so i'm recording it!
Very nice Hazel.
A darn-sight prettier than my Spider H! Turned chilly here!
We are having a lovely spell of warm sunny weather & it's kept a lot of the butterflies going, we had a walk around the lanes behind the house yesterday & spotted these, Long-tailed Blue (Pea-blue)
a worn Copper
a Geranium blue
plus Clouded Yellows, Peacocks & Red Admirals & Small Whites,
There also a lot of dragons still about with one of my favourites, at least 4 Red-veined darters,
Also a Common darter (I think)
also 2 Southern Hawkers, managed to get an ID from the photo but not a good shot!
