This is a ringlet
& I don't have a photo of a meadow brown open as they generally sit closed up, but they don't have rings on their back wing & have some orange markings on the front wing.
EDIT Found it, Meadow brown
I thought I had one!
Best wishes

Good to see it looking healthy, not like that first poor parasitised one!
A bit more out in the open yesterday & still munching away

Yuck!
Good luck with your caterpillars.

Third Red Admiral caterpillar has pupated successfully, no pic as he's still in the Nettle tent & tricky to see clearly but I can see the sparkly gold spots on pupal case & he's chucked his head onto the floor!
Moth night at Monkton NR threw up some beasties too
Handsome Harvestman
Pretty large Leopard Slug which had started to retract by time we got the ruler down
Violet Ground Beetle which dug it's barbs into a guy's inside arm after climbing up his shirtsleeve
Lovely colour
My stowaway Forest Bug which rode home with me on my trouser leg, didn't see it 'til I was in the kitchen
Worse for wear though as had lost one leg & part of another!
Found this in my t shirt the other day, great little mover but what is it. I did take it back outside and left him in the shrubbery)
In reply to Cyclist:
Not at all sure Cyclist, my best guess is Peppered Moth but have sent your pic to Steve Ogden at Wildlife Insight for ID!
Rough measurement would help?
stretched out it would be just under an inch
Could be an inch worm moth.
EDIT
Mine could have been a baby next to my wedding ring.
