Sadly we have rogue grey squirrels that frequent our garden and are very destructive, I wouldn't rate the chances of the wood pigeons, or any others, enjoying a bath for long.
We put a plastic box out, upside down, to feed hedgehogs, before it was dusk, the greys had wrecked the box and desecrated the food. I'm not so sure they didn't even try to eat some, because there wasn't as much as initially put out, and if the local cats had got there, or even the foxes, it would have been gone...
