Bringing In The Fish!

I was happily pottering about at a very sunny Felixstowe Ferry today with my camera - I was just starting to head back to the car when I noticed an almighty kerfuffle of gulls at the river mouth so I decided to investigate.  It never occurred to me that the gulls might just get a little excited when one of the Ferry's small fishing boats brings a suitable haul back!  I've never sat and watched this before - it was brilliant:

That bird came close!

Uh-oh - he's spotted a camera pointing in his direction!

The kerfuffle continues!

Unloading the goodies to bring ashore.

I hope you've all enjoyed looking at these as much as I enjoyed taking them!

Our herring gulls are red listed birds.  Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

I really need to try to get to the coast more often.

I can certainly recommend that!  Which coastal towns are closest to you?

  • Hi Clare. The river Forth is the closest to me and a trip of around an hour or so would take me to some nice seaside towns in either East Lothian or over the Forth Road Bridge into Fife. They're not actually too far away it just seems that I always end up somewhere else instead. I really should make a point to actually plan a day at one of these lovely places. I did go to North Berwick last year and took a boat trip to the Bass Rock. Will definitely be doing that again this year.

  • That's somewhere I'd love to visit.

By the way, Paul, June is running another Music Night on Friday and she's made it obvious she really enjoyed your contributions to the last one.
