A couple of weeks ago Limpy and I had a couple of nights away in Wales. It was well worth the drive from the Suffolk coast as we managed to arrive at the Cors Dyfi reserve just as they were ringing their osprey chicks! The place was buzzing with excitement as we entered and it turned out that proud parents Monty and Glesni had produced two girls this year. Glesni is three years old and has proven herself a magnificent first time mother. Naturally a few photos were taken:
In the last picture Monty is delivering a fish to the nest.
There were some lovely birds at the feeders too:
Hope you enjoy them.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.
After leaving Cors Dyfi we headed down the road towards Aberystwyth and made the turning for Bwlch nant yr Arian - we couldn't have come all this way without seeing the magnificent spectacle which is the red kite feeding session. They put out meat at the same time every day of the year for them. A number of kites were already circling as we arrived but when the meat was served they were everywhere! I've never seen anything like it and it really made our stay!
The cleaning squad came in very soon afterwards:
This was a great place to visit and I really enjoyed seeing these fantastic birds.
Excellent pics, Clare. I went to the red kite feeding a couple of months ago - it really is spectacular. Glad you enjoyed your visit too.

Clare, I can't see most of your pictures. The dreaded red cross I'm afraid.
Cheers, Linda.

What a fabulous time Clare, your photos take ages to load, but well worth the wait

Thanks Clare. Lovely photographs. As you say it will be so much better when the new viewimg platform is built.
Clare, they have appeared now, but took an age to load. I think I just got timed out on my first try!
As Judi said, your pics were worth waiting for. They are lovely and yes, I did enjoy them. Thank you. I'm pleased you enjoyed your trip. We are going to that area the week after next and will be visiting Bwlch nant yr Arian. Where is the best place to photo the kites from? We have been to Gigrin and that was wonderful.

I've never been to Gigrin and will have to visit there at some point. I hope you have a lovely stay.
Thanks Clare.
