If I was paid a pound every time I quickly got my binos and checked for a firecrest out the kitchen window.......only to find it indeed was yet another chiffchaff, I'd have paid for my holiday! I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but chiffchaffs are even more everywhere than last year, and that's going some. Just today on a walk, I had three singing males within a few trees of each other (while I was stood still), with what presumably was a female 'hweeting' in the same tree as one of them.
Robbo- we can all keep wishing and hoping that we see a Firecrest in our garden
I can hear Goldcrests in the Pine tree area at the end of.our cul-de-sac. There is a large selection of these type of trees behind people's gardens at the of our road, and Goldcrests seem to love this type of environment

And how many robin territories? (Their boundaries are fluid, but careful plumage examination can help distinguish individuals).
The most I've had is seven. The stand-offs at the boundaries were worth a watch.
I have to include fly-overs of house martins as they have been known to alight in trees within the garden boundary during the gathering of the clans prior to a southward departure.

A member of my group got some very nice pictures of a Firecrest the other day.

Very nice James, and a group sighting is one step better.
The only time I remember seeing a Firecrest was about 10 years at my then local reserve in Bedford called Putnoe Woods Sadly it was too hidden to be able to take a photo.
It got the interest of one of my local bird watchers so he joined us for a second walk about in the same area, but we where not so lucky second time around

Chiffs arrived here en masse about 8 days ago- they are now held up due to the NE winds
So virtually no swallow ( 3) or other migrants- saw 8 wheatears on Friday but that is it locally:
No new migrants today:
