This is full totality with the suns atmosphere the Corona. This is the the only time the Corona can be seen from out own eyes from the surface of our planet. Also on the right hand side of the sun and on the right side high up are prominces which again can only be seen in a Total Solar Eclipse. If anyone has never seen a Total solar eclipse in person if in the right place and no buildings blocking like in a town or city you will see the moonsapproaching you at a speed of thousands of miles just before full totality. During totality if not cloudy or in a town or city and can see the horizon you will see what looks like a 360 degree sunset all away around the Hotizon and that is outside the area of the total solar eclipse where only the partial phase is happening.

This is now the diamond ring effect with totality coming to an end.
And now with totality just at an end and back to the partial phase. Even if you’re seeing 99.99% of the sun covered. That is enough to stop seeing the sun’s atmosphere the Corona and the prominences. The sun has to be 100% blocked by the moon to s The 2024 Total Solar Eclipse will be a longer affair as at maximum it will be over 4 minutes long of Totality.
