Definitely want to see the other photos, and a brilliant set all round, and to see that after last years disappointment, this year yielded such a good set of photos, and weather.

It's a long journey for us as well. We break our journey near Gretna as that's an ideal half-way point. We've yet to use the Oban to Craignure crossing as we both like the Lochaline to Fishnish one - you don't have to pre-book that. We've since been told that's the most reliable crossing, which means we'll continue to use it! Limpy can still drive, though long distances tend to be driven by me as driving really takes it out of him.
Our herring gulls are red listed birds. Think about that the next time you hear some flaming idiot calling for a cull of them.

Birding is for everyone no matter how good or bad we are at it,enjoy it while you can

Not stupid. You live closer to Scotland than we do and I've also driven from Suffolk to Scotland in a day on my own - tiring, but doable.

We did the photographer trip - it cost twice as much, but was well worth it. The birds come really close so do make sure you have a lens between about 100-200mm with you. I was using a 100-400mm lens, which was perfect for both eagles and gulls.
Have a fantastic time!
