I know that many areas of the UK lack House Sparrows though having said that we (myself and my partner) have always had large colonies at each of the areas we have lived in the UK
So House Sparrows are sadly on the decline - we need to support them with Sparrows nest boxes, lots of dense hedges and less preening of our garden space.
As UK residents, we are too proud of our garden space and far too tidy. We need to think more of our wildlife instead.

Aw your very welcome. If you would be so kind in return Kathy to answer my question would be most helpful as I say I am always on the lookout to add to the garden to flower at this time of the year....I dont know that much about flowers other than my lilies don't flower mid to later summer ...well that's if the slugs don't get them 1st...lol perhaps yours are winter /early spring ones or if its just an old photo that's fine but an answer would be most helpful ;-)

I did not plant my garden my landlord did, and no l have not studied the Lillie's as such they look after themselves..
I took a photo just before I re-joined the RSPB last August 2022.of the Sparrows
Let it be and let me enjoy my life
