Hi everyone. We all here at Ynys-hir miss Adam who has done sterling work with this blog, and indeed around the Reserve in the 6 months he was with us. Many thanks Adam.

Well. spring must be here, indeed the weather in recent weeks has been excellent and I am pleased to say sightings on the reserve, including many migrants, is exciting at the moment.

Among many species we have Little Ringed Plover, Sandwich Tern, a Brent Goose, Whimbrel, Black-Tailed Godwit and a Bar-Tailed Godwit. Other species now showing well are Reed Warbler, Grasshopper Warbler, Sedge Warbler, Wood Warbler, Whitethroat and Crossbill. We must not forget Pied Flycatcher and Redstart.

The Woodlands are coming to their prime with Bluebells, Marsh Marigolds, Wood Anemone, Wood Sorel, Greater Stitchwort and Dog Violets adding plenty of colour. With the sun these plants are attracting many butterflies including Brimstone, Holly Blue, Common Peacock, Red Admiral, Small Tortoiseshell, and Speckled Wood.

Now is definitely the time to visit, so come and see us soon.
