So pleased to capture this blacktailed godwit at Titchwell, one of my favourite reserves - one reason (there are many more not least the beauty of the site) is that it is possible to get quite close for photos.

What a beautiful view of that plumage on a fairly shy bird! You are right to be pleased.
Excellent photo. I saw a few on Monday at Titchfield Haven, some of which were colour ringed. I sent the details off yesterday and have a reply already (ringed in Iceland)so it is well worth keeping an eye open and reporting any colour ringed birds.

thanks to Good egg and Andrew. How exciting to capture a colour ring! And thanks for comments, the plumage is beautiful isn't it. I have a 300 lens so don't often get the chance to be really close.
Wow. If you took that with a 300mm lens then you must have had a very good view. I'd like to be as lucky!
Hi-
the NW corner of 'volunteer marsh' as it's called normally has a close Blackwit all winter. Spot shank Greenshank and Little Egret like that section as well.

It's all chance isn't it - especially as this photographer's not really sure what she's doing ...
Will have to find this spot next time I visit! thanks a lot
It's on the main path - past the causeway to Parrinder Hide and JUST before the causeway between volunteer marsh and saline marsh
Great, thanks a lot, will remember this! Nothing like a good close view.
