Last Saturday proved to be a significant day in the road to recovery. Over 40 volunteers attended the new SPA building where they heard presentations from all the senior RSPB Midlands managers. The theme of the day was primarily by way of a thank you to the volunteers for their patience, their hard work and resilience over the past 7 months.  Steve Holliday, regional Director, reinforced the message of the determination shown by the society to support the rebuilding of the Visitor Centre. Mike Pollard, the West Midlands Reserves Manager, showed us the latest ideas on the layout of the proposed new Visitor Centre. To conclude the event both Lee Copplestone, Site Manager, and myself gave brief presentations relating to how the SPA building will operate over the coming months. Lee then gave out 'Thank You' awards to a number of volunteers who had performed above and beyond the call of duty.

Everyone then enjoyed a hearty buffet lunch supplied by Packingto Moor Farmshop, using locally produced products. There were no leftovers!

See you on the reserves,

Best regards,

Chris Edwards
