We have once again benefitted from work done on the reserve by the eager and willing students from the West Midlands Police Princes Trust initiative. This is the second year running RSPB Sandwell Valley have hosted them. Last year the group cleared and prepared a new river viewing point which was soon named 'Kingfisher Korner', where visitors can watch the iconic kingfisher fly along the river Tame. Not to be outdone, this years' group decided to re-establish an overgrown sensory herb garden and prepare a forgotten weedpatch for wildflower planting. All this work adds to the enjoyment of a visit to the reserve and the students are rightly proud of their achievements.
On behalf of Lee and myself, as well as our many visitors, a big thanks go to these youngsters, some of whom had never used gardening tools before!
I've posted a couple of photographs showing the group posing alongside their work.
See you on the reserves,
Best regards,
Chris Edwards
