Considering the guided walk today was arranged less than 48 hours ago, it seems everyone got something out of it.

We welcomed 20 members of the Halesowen U3A ramblers group to our reserve in the Sandwell Valley this morning and they enjoyed a leisurely walk around our reserve in blustery but sunny conditions. Stopping off at the new viewing points around the reserve we saw a few of our resident birds as well as a couple of migratory ones.

On the way back we popped in to the hide where the ramblers were able to get a close up view of lapwings and the oystercatchers. The sunshine warmed the hide as always, and we had to prise our walkers out of their seats, such was the enjoyment of the views.

Back in the SPA building the hot drinks were eagerly received and the group reciprocated with their generosity in donations.

All in all another good day out on a guided walk. Don't forget that these guided walks are regular weekend events now. Our next entertaining Saturday guided walk is this weekend. Starting at 11am we hope to cover the reserve and beat the current record number of birds spotted on one of our walks.

See you on the reserves,

Best regards,

Chris Edwards
