The spring half-term holiday is the perfect time to learn more about wildlife in this area. Over the last two days staff and volunteers from our reserve have attended events at Hamstead and Great Barr libraries.

On both days we were inundated by eager youngsters willing to get their hands mucky whilst making log feeders. Learning how to use the contents of a food cupboard to feed birds came as a surprise to some of them. Birds eating the same food as us?!  No way!

Well over 150 adults and children attended the two sessions, proving how popular bird feeding is.

The visitors were able to take their feeders home as well as ideas on what to use without spending a fortune on birdfeed.

Our thanks go to the staff of Hamstead and Great Barr libraries for organising the days and we apologise for the mess we left on the carpets.

See you on the reserves,

Best regards,

Chris Edwards
