We're encouraging visitors to explore their creative side this October and show that they are Wild about Art!
With the help of Aim for Art, a group of community artists, we are aiming to inspire everyone to release their creative side this autumn, to create works of art inspired by the wonderful setting of Saltholme.
Throughout October, staff and volunteers at the RSPB Saltholme, will be encouraging our visitors to pick up their paintbrushes and pencils, and create their own masterpieces.
Aim for Art will be visiting the reserve on 8 - 9 and 15 - 16 October to help inspire visitors to let their imaginations really run wild.
We will also be hosting a fantastic exhibition from local artist, Mark Richardson, who has created a series of unique wildlife images specifically for the reserve, which will be on sale throughout the month.
We are absolutely over the moon that Aim for Art are joining us, and combined with Mark’s awe-inspiring artwork, we are hoping that visitors will get into the swing of things and create some fantastic pieces at Saltholme.
As well as the exhibition, we will be running an art competition for adults and children. The adult winner will take home a piece of Mark Richardson artwork, while under 13’s will win an art set to help them on their journey as budding artists. The closing date for competition entries is 23 October.
Given the fantastic location of our reserve, we're confident that visitors will find plenty of inspiration, from the industrial landscape which surrounds us to the amazing variety of birds which call Saltholme home. We're really looking forward to seeing what you come up with.
Admission to the reserve is only £5 per car, or free for RSPB members, making a day out at Saltholme excellent value for money.
