Saltholme has lots of good picnic tables and yesterday the two on the meadow had a make-over. The Wildlife Explorers painted one of them with pictures of fish and pond life, the other with leaves, flowers and terrestrial bugs.
The painting of the terrestrial table in progress -
and the finished aquatic table. I know they had fun with the painting.
As you can see these are made out of cable reels, but there are other standard picnic tables - all wheelchair friendly - dotted about the Reserve. But if a little shelter is needed then head for the benches in the Wildlife Garden. And if you prefer to sit on the grass then we have just cut the wildflower area in the garden and the grass outside the garden may suit - but this year perhaps a good picnic rug is needed!
