Super Sheep, Baa-donna, Baa-rt Simpson, and Where's Woolly were some of the themed sheep we received from our North East knitters last weekend for Saltholme's Knit-a-Thon!

As some of you may be aware, our flock of sheep fell victim to dog attacks over the festive period to which our Knit-a-Thon helped raise funds to cover excess costs of these attacks. Not only did it engage people from all across the region but  also heightened the spirits of staff and volunteers who were heavily involved with the after care of the sheep.

A great big THANK YOU to all of those who got on board, not only knitting sheep, but also making cards, crocheting badges, making wood carvings and even tiny little clay models in aid of our sheep!

Our sponsored scarf knitters knitted till the sheep came home all weekend, and even some of our young grasshoppers gave it a go!

I would like to give special thanks to Vivienne at Bobby Davison Wools in Hartlepool not only for promoting the event among her knitting groups and customers but also for donating wool and needles toward our scarf challenge! Another special thanks to Alyson and the lovely ladies of The Woolly Workshop in Durham, and other scarf knitters who came along at the weekend with needles at the ready to knit the day away!

300+ sheepy items later and we are currently sitting on a grand total of £1,140! With more sheep to sell, we are hoping to keep this total running over the Easter period, so get yourselves down to Saltholme and buy yourself a sheep!

Baaa-Bye for now!
