Hi everyone,
Quite a day of variety. Just after opening, five fieldfares were in the hedge beside the wildlife watchpoint.
Along the lake walk, an impressive covey of 20 grey partidges was disturbed in the meadow.
Down on Back Saltholme and Saltholme West, only 2 goldeneyes were seen, still surrounded by larger numbers of shovelers, teals, gadwalls, pochards, tufted ducksand pintails. On the wet grassland, Friday's goose-o-rama with only Canada geese, greylag geese and some barnacle geese still present.
Six tree sparrows flew over the visitor centre at 11am.
Along the Dragonfly Path, up to five stonechats were flitting between the fence posts and hedgetops.
Just before 3pm, a juvenile marsh harrier was spotted quartering the northwest reedbed.
Bye for now,
Ben.
