Hi everyone,

It's been a windy and rainy day but the chills and spills were soon forgotten thanks to Jan's delicious mince and dumplings in the cafe.

As well as warm tummies, those visitors who braved the weather had their hearts warmed by a bevvy of wonderful wildlife sights.  Excitement filled the visitor centre when two male bramblings flitted between the feeding station and exposed mud.

After lunch, I decided to head out of the centre to spend a few minutes at the Wildlife watchpoint.  Aside from getting completely drenched, it was great to see that the new and improved scrape has filled right up with water and is clearly a big hit with the birds.  16 snipe were tucking into their own version of Jan's mince and dumplings, probing furiously for worms among the bumpy clods of earth.

Down at Saltholme Pools Hide, the headliners were curlew sandpiper, little stint and common sandpiper.

Bye for now,

Ben.
