Test out your detective skills with our mini-beast mayhem week at Saltholme Looking for a spot of family-fun of everyone to enjoy? What about a great day out in Teesside full of exciting things to explore and discover something new? Well, here at RSPB Saltholme near Hartlepool in the North East, we think we have just the ticket for you... From Monday 15 to Sunday 21 August, why not join us for a whole week of Mini-beast Mayhem? Turn detective and explore our discovery zone as children and big kids alike go on the hunt to discover the many mini-beasts calling the great outdoors their home. But how good exactly are your detective skills? Why not try out our 'un-nature trail'? Take a walk around the reserve and see if you can spot the items that are trying to camouflage themselves but really shouldn't be there. And if you really want to take a closer look at all the discoveries you find, why not be like a real detective and see your mini-beasts up-close and create your own pooter? Just like a magnifying glass, a pooter helps you to look at your discoveries and learn more about the creatures you find, before being able to release them back safely into the wild. Speaking of wild, if you visit us on Wednesday, you can take part in Wild Wednesdays too – loads of fun for all the family with mini-beast hunts led by our expert team of wildlife watchers here at the reserve. With so much to enjoy at Saltholme this summer, we're sure you'll find something to keep the kids entertained. And a trip to the reserve is great value for money too; while some activities may incur a small fee, entry into Saltholme is only £5 per car or free for RSPB Members. What's more, there's something for all the family to enjoy – from running wild in the great outdoors and burning off some of that pent-up energy to relaxing with a cool drink in our cafe enjoying the stunning panoramic view over the reserve, we're sure you won't be disappointed with your time spent with us. Check out the great activities for kids we have planned over the summer holidays and we hope to see you at Saltholme soon!
