The dog attacks and ensuing trauma over the festive period could have been much more problematic to deal with, if not for the help we had from our volunteers. Dealing with dead and injured animals is difficult and incredibly time consuming, and although many people were involved in the aftermath of the attacks, we are extremely grateful to two of our vols in particular: Cate Taylor and Ellie Stevenson, both of whom give their time almost daily to help us, and the sheep, get through each day.

We currently have 34 sheep in the shed requiring daily care, which is largely provided by Cate and Ellie. What is particularly tragic for Cate and Ellie is that they helped rear some of the dead and injured animals.

Ellie will be going to Liverpool University in September to train to be a vet. Let’s hope she never has to deal with anything like this again.
