Nothing says Easter like a hot cross bun - so we thought we'd bake the biggest one ever.  Yes, it's true - we unveiled the world's biggest hot cross bun at Saltholme yesterday.

It measured a massive 8 feet and weighed the equivalent of 2,060 'normal' hot cross buns.  Needless to say, it wouldn't even fit inside the Saltholme visitor centre, so we unveiled it just outside in glorious sunshine.

The bun was baked by Greenhalgh's bakery in Bolton and took a team of five professional bakers a whole day to prepare and make, with over 65 kg of flour and enough currants to stretch to the top of Nelson's column if laid out end to end.

Enjoy the Easter weekend with the RSPB.

Ben.
