Hi everyone,
It's been very, very windy at Saltholme since Sunday. Thankfully today was much calmer.
There's lots of common vetch starting to appear at the edges of some of the paths. Look out for the tiny, vivid purple flowers.
With the wind calmer and the weather slightly warmer, blue-tailed damselflies have started to emerge from the ponds - I saw two on the path to the wildlife watchpoint. I also saw my first meadow brown butterfly of the year, too. I also saw my first dragonfly of the year, but I couldn't begin to tell you what it was. Probably a four-spotted chaser.
Down at Saltholme Pools hide, there was a ringed plover and a little ringed plover. Here's a short little ringed plover video ...
There were also five black-tailed godwits, a greenshank and a family of great crested grebes giving the children a piggy-back.
Bye for now,
Ben.
