This is the first photograph I ever took of a kingfisher. It is not at Rye Meads but along the River Lea flood relief channel near Waltham Abbey. I spotted a pair of kingfishers perching outside their nest hole in the river bank on 15th April 2021 and this is the first photograph I took with a new camera and 300mm lens. Even so this image is severely cropped. I have since purchased a longer lens and upgraded my camera body. So thanks to the kingfishers I have spent a fortune but have spent many happy hours at Rye Meads photographing kingfishers and other water birds.
