My first ever visit to Rye Meads and how lucky is that? I entered the Kingfisher Hide at just the right moment and two other visitors made room for me to get a very good view of a male Kingfisher. I have never seen one before other than in photographs, let alone had the opportunity to actually photograph one. With his back to the camera you can understand why this wonderful bird is a 'king' amongst birds. Such fantastic plumage.
