Starting with the wonderful Alice!
wonderful pictures well done

Thanks Denise. I'm glad you liked them.
Really beautiful photos Bex. Which lens do you use? I'm looking to upgrade my zoom lens very soon, so would be really interested to know :-)
Hi Carole, the zoom lens I use is the Canon EF 100-300mm 1:4.5-5.6. For the insects and flowers I used a Macro lens, Canon EF 100mm 1:2.8. The 300mm isn't too bad but to get a decent shot on it you really need to be quite close to your subject. I am looking to upgrade myself and hopefully get the Sigma 150-500mm as I have heard that they are quite good for the price you pay. What equipment are you using at the moment?
Hi Bex
Thanks for your reply. I use the Canon EF 100mm macro as well, and love it, it's a great lens isn't it. Your pictures are very good on the 100-300mm zoom, I thought you would have had a much longer zoom than that. I have the Canon 55-250mm zoom, and am also thinking of getting the Sigma 150-500mm. It has very mixed reviews but a lot of people swear by it, and it is very good value. I tried one out last week in my local camera shop, it's a bit heavy but I'm sure it would be fine once you get used to it. I've joined the Sigma 150-500mm group on Flickr, so I can get an idea of what it can produce (with the right handler of course!)
Are you on Flickr?
Carole
Hi Carole, yes the 100mm marco is really really good. I've had it for a while now and have mucked around with the settings on my camera. It can produce really good results and wouldn't part with it. I've had the 300mm lens for a few years now and so have managed to work out how to get the best out of it. I too have heard mixed reviews on the Sigma but I have seen and spoken to quite a few people who own it and some of the pictures have been truly amazing. My own personal opinion on this lens is that it's ideal for taking pictures in a hide/bright conditions but I don't know how easy it would be taking pictures as you walked around for an hour or so simply because of it's weight. I am thinking of hiring one for a weekend just to see how I get on with it before I commit to buying one. I do have a flickr account (it hasn't been updated in a while though) www.flickr.com/.../rebecca_smithphotography

Fabulous pictures, and I love Alice in Wonderland LOL

Great pictures Bex! Love the Alice pictures, well all of your picture! The watervole is very cute!
Love the pictures - absolutely wonderful ! I 've been to the reserve at rye meads on a few occasions now with my 18 month old daughter and we haven't seen alice the fox yet. When is the best time and location on the reserve to see the foxes?
Hi Bex,
Your pictures are wonderful! I was wondering if they are copyrighted? The reason I ask.....I live in Stanstead Abbotts and we are entering the RHS "Village in Bloom" competition for the first time this year. As Rye Meads is within our parish, we will be looking to include some photos of local wildlife in our portfolio. Credits would be given of course. If you are happy for me to use some then please let me know asap, our portfolio has to be sent to the judges on Thursday (28th). Many thanks!
