Hello All

Despite it being a bit of a grey and chilly day there has still been plenty of happenings on site.

The kingfishers continue to give good shows and are still investigation the favoured burrow, there was even a bit of mating going on! So as the first brood is not due to fledge until 13 May it looks like we may get a bit of an over lap as the second clutch is laid.  Which will keep them busy! We even managed to catch on camera the female inspecting the males handy work in the new burrow, she obviously was not impressed as they swapped places and dirt could be seen flying out the burrow as he carried out a bit more excavation. So still plenty of activity for the Bank Holiday weekend.

In other news i recorded common sandpiper, yellow wagtail and little egret from the Draper hide this afternoon. Visitors had reported the male red-crested pochard from yesterday was also from the Draper in the morning but had moved back to the lagoons by the time of my stop in the Draper Hide. Swifts were zipping over head this afternoon, its lovely to have them back in our skies, i am just waiting for the first scream!

Remeber it is your last chance tomorrow to book for the Dawn Chorus on sunday.

Thanks

Vicky
