Hello All

Just a brief update today.

Well there has been plenty of activity at the kingfisher bank this morning. Not only have the adults been taking fish in to the young but they have also been going in and out of another hole! Are they getting ready for a third brood already? Looks possible, especially as the hole they have been investigating is the one used for the first brood, and it is common behavior for the adults to return to this tunnel for the third brood. So all looking really positive again.

We have also had some species returning to site today that have probably either failed breeding or not bred at all, that is 2 species in the form of 2 green sandpipers and 2 teal all on the Draper.

The female marsh harrier that arrived on site over the weekend, was once again spotted.  She has been favoring the meadow visible from the warbler or lapwing hides and often dips in and out of the reed bed.

Plenty of small tortoiseshell have been around in the last few days and the occasional banded demoiselle have joined the blue tailed, common, and azure damselfly.

Thanks

Vicky
