Morning everyone,
What a lovely day!
So a bit of a change on the Gadwall hide this morning, it looks like our Black-necked grebe family have moved house! The night shift ended last night with no sign of a hatched third chick, but at first light this morning we assume the chick had emerged as the whole group had moved on.
We now can't see the nest as they have relocated to the back of the island but we are still getting occasional sightings of the birds swimming in the front of the lagoon. Staff and volunteers will be stationed in the hide all weekend to keep us all up to date on the latest, and we are hoping to confirm three chicks at some point. However we wanted to advise you all that we are not getting as good views as we were previously and cannot guarantee you will be able to see the birds at all. So just to be aware it might require a bit more patience for sightings today.
Ask on reception for more information and there are also a list of guidelines available there.
Many thanks for your continued support and cooperation with this special situation.
We look forward to seeing many of you down here later!
