I do believe some of our starlings are off for a night on the town!
This evening the numbers were down from 1000-1500 to around 500. But that is not to say they did not put on a performance. They once again congregated on the pylon near the kingfisher hide and then in an amazing woosh of wings they were off circling the reedbed before dropping in to rooost in their usual spot on the lee marsh.
I managed to snap a few pictures but again my apologise for the quality, there were some dark grey clouds behind the pylon wich did not help matters.
Good numbers of water rail were around this evening with the usual one showing from the gadwall hide (down to the left), another showing in one of the bays we have cut from the kingfisher boardwalk along with another calling further back in the reedbed and another calling from near the ashby hide. Nice.
thanks
