Hello All
Today was the day for the draw of the raffle for Steve Kershaw's black -necked grebe painting and the lucky winner is Cathy Sears. Steve will be presenting the painting to Cathy on Friday. If you have not managed to come by and see the black-necked grebes our remaining juvenile black-necked grebe is continuing to show well from the Gadwall hide, looking all grown up in winter plumage.
Other sightings today include a single black-tailed godwit, 16 lapwing, snipe and 4 green sandpipers from the Draper hide. The kingfishers continue to feed the young of their third brood, which are due to fledge around the 20th August and we are sure they have started laying eggs for the fourth brood. Amazing!!!!!!
The water voles are continuing to come regularly to the apple feeder and visitors are getting some great shots, so of you are a bit of a wildlife photographer this is a great opportunity to see these elusive and cute creatures. If you are still learning about wildlife photography we are hosting a Wildlife Photography Workshop run by professional photographer Tom Mason on Saturday 23 August. £30 members, £40 non members, booking is essential on 01992 708383.
Thanks
Vicky
