Hi all

Thought you might appreciate a little update on our black-necked grebe pair, and for those that haven't managed to make it down yet, a little picture.

We had good news today that the second of the eggs had hatched and we now have two chicks doing well and being carried round the lagoon on the back of mum and dad. We are just awaiting the hatching of the last egg which should be in the next day. Staff and volunteers are still manning the hide at all times to keep a close watch on our special arrivals and to answer any questions anyone may have, and we will continue to do so for now to monitor the youngsters.

These really are beautiful birds as you can see from this photo taken by field teacher and volunteer Brian Bishop, so do try to come down for a visit and see them before they move on. This is a very exciting time for us all at Rye Meads! Restrictions will apply on viewing times if the hide gets busy but we'd like as many people as possible to get to see these unique birds.

See you all soon!
