Woooohooo!  It actually feels wintry out there at the moment. The sun is shining, there is a light breeze and a good heavy ground frost to make things sparkle a little.

There are new birds too, with three floks of Redwing totalling 64 birds going west and seven Fieldfare chacking not far behind. There seems to be a few more Blackbirds around the centre this morning as well so perhaps the lessening of that predominate westerly has allowed a few birds to head across the North Sea.

A bit of sunshine always get the duck goign and even from the car park you could hear the plips, ploops and whistles of Teal, Pintail and Wigeon on Purfleet Scrape.

Teal (Les Harrison)

Wigeon (Dave McGough)

What else will the day have in store for us?
