No change in the weather... still absolutely freezing with a bone numbing easterly wind but there was some signs of movement today with at long last the first Blackcap suggestive of being a migrant in the honeysuckle outside the centre first thing and then a little flurry of waders on the river with a very notable seven Knot in Aveley Bay before heading for the Target Pools and then two Bar-tailed Godwits which did the opposite and flew from the back of Purfleet Scrape onto the river. They were later joined by a third bird and a single Grey Plover.

Other than that there were still no hirundines or Little Ringed Plovers and Graham White finding a 1st yr Med Gull briefly emlivened things! The feeding stations are operating like mid-winter at the moment... crazy stuff...
