I just wanted to remind you of some of the amazing events that we have coming up!

Over the summer we have lots of events for adults and for families.

Drop in to Rainham Marshes this summer holidays, to take part in some fabulous family activities! There's something every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday - and family self-guided trails available every day!

Every Tuesday and Thursday have fun pond dipping and minibeast detectives where we will be searching for bugs! 

  • Tuesday: pond dipping from 10.30 am-12pm, and minibeast detectives 1-2.30pm
  • Thursday: minibeast detectives from 10.30 am-12pm, and pond dipping 1-2.30pm

Tomorrow (Wednesday 10 August) the younger kids can take part in a scavenger hunt, and from 1-3pm we have a not to be missed Natural Animation Workshop for the over 12's!

Fancy making a movie? Help us create a fabulous animation video using natural materials – we’ve got all the equipment, and we’ll put the finished movie on the blog!
No need to book, just turn up. Leave yourselves about 15 minutes to get to our workshop location!

On Friday 12 August from 10 am-12 noon adults and families can enjoy a Come and Climb Workshop - enjoy climbing and improving your skills on our nature themed boulders. As you climb with the help of an expert enjoy the sounds of nature, and enjoy slacklining and climbing!

There is a kids birdwatching club on Saturday 13 August - 10 am-12.30 pm. Enjoy the reserve through the seasons looking at all the different wildlife on the reserve, and discovering more!

On Saturday 13 August 2-4 pm, you can discover the smaller creatures on the reserve, on our Insect Walk!

They might be some of the smallest inhabitants of the reserve but they have fascinating adaptations and life cycles. Explore, and discover with knowledgeable staff and volunteers.

You could join our cycling day trip - exploring the riverside path that we allow bicycles onto, the amazing views and all the wildlife! On Saturday 13 August, from 10 am- 3 pm we will be exploring the RSPB Rainham Marshes Riverwall and further afield with a cycle expert and guide, and discover the wildlife and the amazing views! This guided off road cycle ride will take you on good paths, stopping along the way to enjoy the spectacular views and amazing wildlife.

On the same day, Saturday 13 August, you can enjoy the reserve past our usual closing time during our Late Night Opening.

If you are 12-18 years old, you can discover what it is like to be a warden here at Rainham Marshes. help us with hands on practical habitat management on the reserve with our Be a Warden for the Day events on Wednesday 17 August and Tuesday 23 August between 1-4 pm (it's free!)
