Will it ever get light? The rain is currently lashing down, the trees and reeds are whipping back and forth, the light cones on the centre roof are thrumming and a Magpie has just gone backwards past the window....

Yesterday was glorious up until late afternoon and the sun on the shimmering Lapwing flocks was excellent. Peregrines were active and the male Marsh Harrier was seen throughout the day. There was a good selection of waders that included a fine Grey Plover again on Purfleet Scrape although there was no sign of the Turnstone seen on Wednesday.

The White-fronts must have been elsewhere yesterday but David Morrison got some superb shots on Wednesday as they flew over his head with the Greylags...

So, even if you do not fancy a walk today please pay a visit, have a cuppa and a slab of cake, watch out the window and pick up that last minute stocking filler from the shop.....
